Lens 411

If you are going for prescription glasses, the next step after choosing your frame is to determine the kind of lens index and lens options you will need.

Lens Material

Hard resin lenses are made of high quality organic plastic. They are much more durable and lighter in weight than glass lenses. Hard resin lenses are often used for prescription glasses these days. They have the least distortion of any non-glass lenses, and are most suitable for fashion tinting.

Eyewear Magic offers high-index 1.56 CR-39 Hard Resin Material Lenses with every pair of glasses purchased. All Eyewear Magic lenses come with Anti-Reflective, Scratch-Resistance, UV protection, Anti-Radiation and Hydrophobic coatings at no extra cost.

If your prescription requires a higher-index of 1.61, 1.67 or you require custom-made lenses for unusually high prescription, such options are available at extra cost. Please also note that for photochromic and tinting treatments, only index of 1.56 and 1.56 custom lenses will be available.

By the way, a higher index equates to a thinner make of the lens. Some people may opt for a higher index to achieve a slim profile. For individuals with a prescription ranging in the upper echelon, higher index lenses or in some cases, custom-made lenses become a necessity. Our lens selection/ordering process will assist you in making the right choice of lens index.

Extra Features

Why use it?
Anti-reflective coated lenses help to reduce eye fatigue in many situations, particularly while viewing computer screens and driving at night. Without it, approximately 8% to 10% of the light is reflected away from the lens, removing valuable details from your line of sight. Likewise, as certain amount of light is reflected off the lens surface, it creates glare. AR coated lenses allow approximately 99% of available light to pass through without interruption, thereby reducing glare considerably. The end result – a clear view of your beautiful eyes through the lenses!
Why use it?
Aspheric lenses reduce distortion created when wearers look away from the center of a conventional lens. It keeps the optics crisp and clear the same way as all expensive photographic lenses featured with aspheric curves. The added benefit of the aspheric lens is that it also helps keep the lens much thinner and lighter. The effect is particularly significant with high prescription glasses.
Why use it?
Anti-radiation filters are extremely effective in reducing eyestrain caused by prolonged periods of time spent in front of the computer screen. The anti-radiation protection is becoming increasingly important as computers are more and more integrated into our everyday lives!
Why use it?
Having tinted lenses without UV protection is not recommended. Lens tinting has the effect of increasing the pupil size and thereby admitting more ultraviolet light to the intraocular lens of your eyes, which can lead to premature cataracts and may cause permanent damage.
Why use it?
The scratch-resistance coating protects your lenses from physical abuses and helps your glasses stay brand new for a long time.
Why use it?
Waterproof coating not only protects against dried water stains, it also helps to prevent smudging on lenses from fingerprints.
